What’s the opportunity?
As a Member Banking Specialist, you will embark on an 18-24 month development journey that will fast track you to becoming a Member Advice Specialist. The Member Banking Specialist is a Coast Capital ambassador in our branches, putting members first and finding solutions to their unique financial needs. Through championing Coast Capital’s values and purpose, the Member Banking Specialist will support new member acquisition while deepening relationships with existing members through providing trusted advice.
This role will utilize financial tools such as the Where You’re At Money Chat (WYAMC) to identify opportunities for members to achieve what is most important in their lives related to their finances. This will include fulfilling routine banking needs and maximizing every interaction to help members better manage, save, grow and protect their financial well-being. To be successful in this role, individuals must complete the required credit and investment training within the specified timeframe. This development role is expected to take approximately 12 to 18 months dependent of the incumbent's capabilities and corporate capacity with the eventual goal to become a Member Advice Specialist. This role is positioned as a training role to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities of the incumbent with the expectation to become three pillared and progress to a Member Advice Specialist role and then progress to further retail and investment services career paths. As such, it will be a requirement to complete the core banking program prior to completing the required credit and investment accreditation through passing the CCS credit and investment cohorts and meeting endorsement criteria indicating successful demonstration of these capabilities and skills.

- Perform a juggling act balancing a friendly sales and service approach with demonstrated ability to proactively listen, identify opportunities to deepen member relationships and solve problems.
- Build relationships with members in branch and deliver an outstanding member experience by meeting their initial needs and identifying future opportunities through money chats and so much more!
- Have fun engaging members in the “Where You Are At Money Chat” to help your members to save, grow, protect and improve their financial well-being
- Demonstrate your knowledge of technology through educating members on our alternate channels (online banking and mobile platforms) to deliver a memorable member experience
- Act as a team player by contributing to team results through listening, spotting opportunities and partnering with other Coast Capital team members to best meet our members financial needs
- Create a positive member experience by proactively taking ownership of resolving and preventing member banking issues
Who are we looking for?
- Experience helping customers in a retail and/or sales environment for a minimum of 2 years where you used your x-ray vision to spot sales and referral opportunities. If you have previous experience working at a financial institution, well that’s a bonus.
- You are self-motivated, passionate and driven to help our members and their financial well-being.
- You are excited to share with the world what you learned during your post-secondary education in finance, business administration or a related field. And you aren’t done learning; you have a desire to know more.
- You excel at building relationships with a wide variety of people and want to help them with simple financial help.
- You are a big fan of team work and demonstrate your team spirit every day.
- You are a multi-tasking master, able to efficiently and effectively prioritize and organize what needs to get done.
- You have great verbal and written communication skills.
- You are tech savvy and comfortable sharing your knowledge with your members.
