Partner with business lines and stakeholders to ensure compliance in legal and security documentation for commercial real estate and business loans. As a registered BCPA Paralegal, the sucessfull candidate will draft, prepare, and manage documentation, ensuring alignment with credit, regulatory, and corporate guidelines. Build and maintain cross-functional relationships within Coast Capital Savings (CSS) and with external professionals. Ensure accuracy and consistency in documentation and registrations, and provide insights on risk mitigation and operational processes to protect Coast Capital Savings lending portifolio.
Responsibilities:
- Resolve documentation issues and develop solutions to meet operational requirements.
- Support integration of new processes, advising and educating as needed.
- Interpret and apply CCS Commercial policies, ensuring legal documentation compliance.
- Stay updated on Commercial credit policies and guidelines, assessing legal and regulatory risks.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant Acts and Regulations, recommending policy amendments.
- Conduct legal research on lending transactions and associated risks, providing mitigation recommendations.
- Educate and guide business lines to enhance risk mitigation skills.
- Provide insights on CCS policies, procedures, and processes.
- Negotiate with stakeholders on security and related documentation.
- Advise on and review security documentation.
- Prepare, analyze, and maintain CCS security documentation.
- Organize and maintain record-keeping databases.
- Interpret information, resolve problems, and advise stakeholders.
- Ensure CCS practices align with industry standards.
- Build cross-functional relationships within CCS and with law firms.
- Participate in education activities related to commercial real estate and business banking.
- Conduct due diligence reviews to verify documentation compliance.
- Ensure security agreements adhere to lending approvals, identifying risks and providing recommendations.
- Apply corporate and regulatory rules to decision-making regarding security documentation.
Qualifications:
- 7-9 years of experience in corporate/commercial/lending/banking law, with exposure to commercial real estate and business documentation.
- High School Diploma and completion of a recognized Paralegal education program; post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Business Law is an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, legal communications, principles, practices, and research techniques.
- Solid knowledge of BC Online, myLTSA, relevant Acts and Regulations, and record-keeping systems.
- Ability to read and interpret financial statements.
- Advanced communication, administration, proofreading, negotiation, advising, judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-paced, volume-driven environment.
