What’s the job?

The Financial Regulatory Reporting Manager is responsible for managing a team of reporting analysts who ensure timely, accurate and complete reporting to various regulatory bodies including OSFI and CDIC. The Manager is required to perform analyses and evaluations of complex regulatory reporting requirements and have a robust understanding of the business operations and the data structure to enable ongoing appropriate application of the requirements to Coast Capital. The Manager is responsible for analyzing and implementing new and revised financial regulatory reporting requirements, developing and implementing regulatory reporting processes and/or systems (including internal controls), and researching and responding to inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders. The role will work closely with other areas of the business to drive proper definition and application of data and will play a key role within the Data Governance framework.

 

 

What you’ll get to do:

  • Builds and maintains an advanced understanding of operations in financial services, credit unions, and/or banking within the regulatory reporting team, in order to ensure appropriate application of the regulatory reporting requirements to the organization.
  • Maintains up to date information on relevant regulatory reporting requirements
  • Analyzes and interprets data from internal stakeholders and ensures alignment with regulatory reporting requirements, within the Data Governance framework
  • Prepares analyses and interpretations of the regulatory reporting metrics and ratios to enable stakeholders (management and regulators) to understand the drivers and implications of business decisions.
  • Develops a robust and sustainable regulatory reporting process that supports timely, accurate and complete reporting to all external regulators.
  • Maintains a strong focus on streamlining processes by identifying and implementing opportunities for automation and efficiencies, offers recommendations and where appropriate leads the implementation.
  • Develops and implements sound internal controls within the regulatory reporting process to mitigate the risks of errors and omissions
  • Leads a team of effective regulatory reporting analysts that support timely, accurate and complete regulatory reporting. Provides development opportunities to analysts and ensures sufficient knowledge transfer between team members
  • Contributes to the review and analysis of new business, rule changes or system changes that impact regulatory reporting processes and/or regulatory metrics/ratios and provides advisory to stakeholders/business units/project teams as needed

 

Who are we looking for?

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience with reporting in financial services sector with a minimum of 4-6 years following completion of post-graduate studies; ; exposure to federal regulatory reporting requirements is an asset. Demonstrated success leading a team is a requirement.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance, plus additional education in related field (CPA, CFA, Risk Management, etc.)
  • Previous experience working in the financial services sector with a strong understanding of its operations, including proficiency with risk management (primarily credit risk, interest rate risk)
  • Strong proficiency with analytical and reporting tools, including MS Office Suite, Power BI, and SQL and VBA would be a plus
