Job Purpose
As a Physical Security Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in safeguarding our branch and administrative office environments, ensuring a secure atmosphere for staff and visitors alike. You'll join a collaborative team where your expertise will drive the enhancement of our security strategies and the careful selection and management of security vendors. This position is an avenue for professional growth through improving our safety frameworks, becoming critical in advancing a safe working and visiting space for everyone, and protecting our employees, members and community.
Accountabilities
- Develop and implement access control policies to ensure a secure environment in our branches and offices, safeguarding both staff and visitors that govern access control while closely monitoring all entry and exit points for security. Manage and audit access credentials, keys and access cards to ensure compliance. Train staff on proper access control procedures and report on system analysis. Establish branch alarm code guidelines for enhanced security measures.
- Develop and update emergency protocols and organize regular response drills to keep staff prepared and ensure regulatory responsibilities are adhered to. Establish connections with local emergency services and create a comprehensive emergency contact database. Coordinate and assist the response teams responding to incidents, including Facilities Management, during actual emergencies and control physical threat situations as they occur.
- Oversee local security vendors to ensure they diligently monitor branch locations, maintaining a secure environment. Act as liaison with contracted service providers such as Security Guards, Alarms, Cameras, locksmiths, and Landlords for Access Control Devices. Coordinate security personnel for emergency on-site requirements.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities in the physical environment. Evaluate and enhance existing security
- measures while collaborating with other departments to integrate physical security into the broader risk management strategy. Educate staff on risk awareness and prevention and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for elevating our security posture.
- Lead thorough investigations into security incidents and breaches, coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders. Document the findings, prepare detailed incident reports, and analyze data to identify any patterns. Use investigation outcomes to recommend enhancements to security measures and train staff on effective incident detection and reporting protocols.
- Identify sensitive areas to install bugs and enhance surveillance efforts. Coordinate with vendors to perform regular sweeps for unauthorized devices in secure zones. Ensure the maintenance of bug-sweeping equipment in collaboration with these vendors.
- Provide input and recommendations for new site layout of branches, office space, security system and hardware design for newly planned, constructed or renovated facilities.
- Manage third-party supplier agreements, renewals and extensions, including supplier selection during competitive bidding process.
- Assist with monitoring and tracking budget expenditures, including invoice approvals.
- Support and assist with implementing security and emergency plans for special events, office relocations, reconfigurations, construction or renovations.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree or 3–4-year diploma in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field; professional security certification (CPP, PSP).
- Experience: 5+ years in physical security management, including 3+ years in financial services, access control systems, risk assessments, and security audits.
- Security Operations & Compliance: Skilled in policy implementation, alarm code configuration, system checks, and vulnerability assessments. Proficient in security incident investigation, reporting, and coordination with law enforcement.
- Emergency Preparedness: Experienced in developing emergency protocols, organizing drills, and leading response teams in crisis situations.
- Technology & Vendor Management: Proven ability to enhance security through technology upgrades, manage third-party security vendors, and implement corporate physical security programs.
- Training & Leadership: Adept at training staff on access control, surveillance systems, and security best practices.
