Senior Business Analyst
This role drives business process improvement via the methodical investigation, analysis, review and documentation of functional business specifications within the People & Corporate Services team. The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for the requirements development process through the elicitation, analysis, specification and verification of multiple levels of requirements from an end-to-end perspective and supports the ongoing management of the requirements. The Senior Business Analyst provides expertise in deployment of business technologies, documentation of business rules, and organizational change management techniques. They may also make recommendations for requirements approach for projects during the Discovery phase or be asked to resolve complex requirements conflicts through effective stakeholder engagement.
Individual Key Contributions/Responsibilities:
- Design and document current / future state solutions. Drive all relevant requirements development through the elicitation, analysis, specification and verification of multiple levels of requirements from an end-to-end perspective. Support the ongoing management of the requirements to ensure the most effective recommendations are made for successful solution and project plan completion.
- Strong ability to drive conversations and manage relationships with stakeholders and third party suppliers during requirements definition phase; including running workshops, brainstorm sessions, A/B scenarios and prototyping.
- Advanced experience translating business requirements into functional requirements including aptitude for interpreting technical documentation as well as authoring or updating documents as needed (Functional Designs, Business Process Designs). Seen as a subject matter.
- High degree of initiative and knowledge interpreting user needs and working with technical experts to write functional specifications for new systems, systems changes and/or system enhancements.
- Advanced experience conducting business process reviews, developing business requirements and functional specifications.
- Advanced knowledge of integrated project team delivery, coordinating deliverables and contributing to strategy/planning with management and other stakeholders.
- High-degree of experience writing use cases, test cases, support QA during all testing phase and define and driving UAT process.
- Advanced experience working in a SME role for the creation of customized end-user training material both online and in classroom.
- Drive and lead continuous improvement of BA processes; make recommendations to improve overall effectiveness and efficiency of the business and team.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis.
- Significant and recent experience developing business proposals, including cost-benefits/feasibility analysis, and ROI to evaluate systems design/enhancement proposals and other business initiatives.
- Excellent ability to self-manage project deliverables within tight timeframes and dynamic priorities. Based on experience, can accurately estimate the cost and time to implement functional or Business unit level solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or a diploma requiring 3 - 4 years of full-time study.
- Degree in Business Administration or Information Technologies. CPA, MBA, CCBA, CBAP, ACMP, Lean Six Sigma Certification an asset. Comparable combination of experience and education will be considered. Experience in financial institution an asset.
- Organizational change management experience and ability.
- Advanced knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies: Value stream mapping, Pull Systems, Standard Work, 5S, etc.
- Training curriculum development, delivery and facilitation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with individuals at all levels of the company.
- Strong focus on attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent writing skills including the design and completion of professional reports and documents.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to work with changing priorities and tight timelines.
