Job Purpose
The Senior Quantitative Risk Specialist designs, implements, and validates quantitative risk models for a wide range of internal stakeholders. The models measure and forecast various risks within the organization, including credit, market, and liquidity risk. The Senior Quantitative Risk Specialist provides the second line of defense oversight for risks including capital, liquidity, and market risks. This role is highly technical and requires the incumbent to develop quantitative solutions and communicate the results in a clear and concise manner.
Accountabilities
- Independently developed models for various financial risks, including liquidity, market, and credit risks.
- Lead validation of models for internal stakeholders in various lines of business
- Lead second line of defense projects for capital, liquidity, market, interest rate, securitization, pricing, and foreign exchange risk.
- Support enterprise-wide model risk governance through monitoring risk appetite measures, reporting on model risk, and staff training.
- Lead and conduct enterprise-wide stress testing and scenario analysis
- Communicate risk analysis results to senior management and other stakeholders
- Provide mentorship to junior analysts
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 - 6 years of job-related experience working in a financial institution
- A Master's degree in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
- Advanced knowledge of financial quantitative modelling and statistics
- Expertise in asset-liability management and standardized liquidity, capital and market risk calculations
- Familiarity with financial institutions’ financial statements
- Completion of GARP’s (Global Association of Risk Professionals) FRM is preferred.
- Expertise in writing source code (Python, Matlab, etc.) and MS Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to adapt communication style to audiences of various backgrounds
- Excellent problem-solving skills
