What’s the job?
The Senior Social Purpose Business Innovation Manager is part of Coast Capital’s Social Purpose Office and is responsible for contributing to the organization’s transformation and brand as a social purpose company. The position achieves this through the development of enterprise purpose plans and roadmaps, strategic leadership and partnering with lines of business to support the integration of social purpose as well as the design, development, and implementation of innovative solutions to drive social purpose and business results. Acting as a social purpose expert and liaison, this role is responsible for growing Coast Capital’s social purpose brand and driving business value through internal and external-facing initiatives. The Senior Social Purpose Business Innovation Manager is responsible for having an in-depth understanding of each of their identified segment business lines and their competitive environments, priorities, and target audiences and is responsible for supporting the embedding of social purpose within Coast Capital’s meaningful membership goals. The role operates as an internal advocate and representative of Social Purpose and the Social Purpose team and helps senior management in the lines of business understand the Social Purpose Office’s strategic role and contribution to the organization’s success. In addition to driving the internal social purpose transformation and innovation, this role actively represents Coast Capital at key external tables and cultivates innovation-based partnerships to advance social purpose outcomes for all Canadians.
What you’ll get to do:
- Serve as segment social purpose lead for identified segment priorities.
- Participate in the Transformation Office, as necessary, supporting the rapid development of high-value initiatives that drive our social purpose and business success.
- Provide expert social purpose advice to departments based on research and analysis of societal trends, risks, impacts, opportunities, and leading practices within and outside the industry in North America and internationally.
- Lead and coordinate efforts to build internal competency and capacity for enterprise-wide social purpose activation by providing strategic support to divisions and departments to integrate social purpose into functions, business plans, OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), decisions, operations, and internal/external communications.
- Act as a champion and expert for enterprise-wide social purpose transformation and execution.
- Leverages Social Purpose Office budget to accelerate social purpose innovations.
- In partnership with the Business Lines, Strategy, Member Experience, Corporate Development, and Product Development, lead the development, ideation, prototyping and scaling of internal and external social purpose innovations that create new member shared value propositions and market segments from social purpose risks and opportunities.
- Proactively lead the ongoing review and evaluation of Coast Capital product and services suites to ensure alignment to and advancement of social purpose and desired outcomes.
- Identify and mobilize key internal and external stakeholders central to segment specialty, to understand their priorities, goals and expectations.
- As segment lead, represent Coast Capital at key external tables and cultivates innovation-based partnerships to advance social purpose outcomes and build Coast Capital’s social purpose external brand.
- Play a key role in the social purpose centre of excellence, providing thought leadership to build a strong understanding and expertise around social purpose in business and the drivers of income stagnation and strategies to grow incomes.
- Support social purpose education, awareness and activation among members.
- Support the VP-level cross-functional social purpose committee (aligned to the strategic governance plan).
- Develop, iterate, and evolve social purpose system maps to identify business innovation opportunities and strategic value propositions.
- Consult internal and external stakeholders to help determine strategic direction, position, and response with considerations for social purpose execution, national expansion, core market, new markets, and the role of partnerships and collaborations.
- Assess societal trends related to our social purpose, including risks, opportunities, and best practices.
Who are we looking for?
- Bachelor's Degree or a diploma requiring 3-4 years of full-time study in marketing, business administration, public relations or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 7 – 9 years of job-related experience responsible for business development, banking operations, employee development, community leadership, and communication. 4 years experience in change management, project management and working in a retail environment 4 years experience in business case preparation, Financial Services and operational and strategic planning are an asset.
- Solid knowledge and practical experience in Project and Program Management
- Detailed knowledge of Retail distribution operations including banking, contact centre, mobile, wealth, and small business.
- Advanced competency with MS Office tools (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Understanding of and involvement in Member Experience methodology including journey mapping and member feedback analysis
- Solid Change Management discipline and experience; certifications desirable
- Solid understanding of business, financials, and operations, including business case preparation. Awareness of business issues, and processes/outcomes as they impact the organization.
- Strong understanding of an integrated sales process, and the surrounding elements that impacts
- Strategic and Annual Operating Planning experience
