Job Purpose
The Syndicated Lending Operations Associate is part of the Commercial Lending Operations team. The role serves Coast Capital Savings (CCS) syndicated and mezzanine financing portfolio. They work collaboratively with the Assistant Manager, Syndication, & Mezzanine Services to drive high-quality standards, risk management, and strong data integrity. This individual will contribute to syndication projects as a subject matter expert and will educate, train, and develop team members. They work well in a fast-paced, complex, and high-volume environment.
Accountabilities
- Examines and interprets Inter-Lender Agreements to determine the deal structure, including which products and values are assigned to each financial institution.
- Strategizes with the Assistant Manager on utilizing syndication systems to support necessary products.
- Facilitates discussions with Senior Account Managers/Directors on deal structure and problem-solving.
- Lead discussions with partner FI’s Agency teams for monthly accounting, including the split of draws, payments, and interest.
- Calculate splits for each participating FI for draws, payments, fees, and payouts, and coordinate & reconcile the associated wire transfers and payment notices.
- Processes and reconciles ongoing carve-out portions of the loans, redistributing and re-calculating the payments and fees as needed to the other partners while ensuring total commitment is not exceeded.
- Reconciliation of FX (USD-CAD) lending on participant files, noting associated USD products are not available in our systems.
- Sets up and reconciles with partner FI’s of Bankers’ Acceptance loans.
- Performs banking system transactions for account creation, funding, renewals, payouts, and complex loan maintenance (i.e., payment adjustments) necessitated by the fact that each FI’s calculations differ from each other. Non-loan activities such as membership and Vostro account creation are also required.
- Technical knowledge of the following systems: T24, Syndtrak, Syndication Admin Tool, and SharePoint. This includes day-to-day use and manipulation to suit unsupported transactions.
- Provide technical expertise, guidance, coaching and training for other team members in similar roles or with similar/comparable work.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 4-6 Years of job-related experience.
- The incumbent must have 4-6 years of syndicated commercial lending administration experience and be conversant with CCS lending products, services, policies, and procedures.
- Must possess strong communication skills, using tact and problem-solving skills to assist and support staff at all levels.
- Solid knowledge of banking operations, including risk management controls, techniques, and practices in an administrative environment.
- Solid proficiency with banking systems.
- Solid proficiency in MS Office applications & Syndtrak.
- Strong knowledge of commercial procedures, processes, and practices as well as commercial lending products and services.
- Working knowledge of lending policy.
- Advanced critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Advanced ability to analyze and interpret large amounts of information applied and re-configure concepts and strategies.
