VP, Sales Equipment - AEF

What’s the job?


The Vice President, Equipment Sales is a member of the Auto and Equipment Finance (AEF) Executive Team and is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy for the Equipment finance team of AEF. This role builds and implements the Equipment roadmap for each channel, develops new channels of business and works collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners to bring all elements of the sales strategy to life. This role will oversee the high performing leadership teams in direct sales, broker & vendor/dealer relationship, and capital markets to deliver the AEF annual operating plan.


What you’ll get to do:

  • Manage the effective distribution of resources and FTE to approved budgets; effectively manage controllable expenses.
  • Responsible for leading team to develop business cases for new markets, channels and/or equipment asset financing. Collaborate with colleagues to review and enhance industry risk appetite statements on annual basis.
  • Managing the implementation of the rolling plan with sales leaders. Reviewing progress to plans and developing, communicating and actively participating in the implementation of actions necessary to remove obstacles, both internal and external, impacting the ability of Equipment finance sales teams to meet annual objectives.
  • Demonstrates commitment by actively supporting new corporate initiatives and inspiring the Equipment Finance team to do the same.
  • Enables change throughout the sales organization through effective planning, communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Accountable for building external relationships through establishing and enhancing AEF's presence, profile, and share of wallet by networking, and participating in industry events.
  • Supporting, communicating and reinforcing the mission, values and culture of the organization.
  • Continually seeks awareness of industry tends outside of CCS and potential impact of these trends
  • Through coaching and mentoring creates a learning environment where staff is focused on providing a high standard of service while achieving profitable production and productivity.
  • Collaborates with others in the organization to share knowledge and seek opportunities for cross-functional business growth.
  • Providing leadership and creating positive working relationships to develop an effective Help environment.
  • Effectively manages staff, developing talent and succession planning within the equipment sales teams.
  • Fostering an effective team culture whereby there is a commitment towards engagement built upon our values, mission and purpose.
  • Mentoring, guiding and coaching business line leaders in order to expand their capabilities and build management depth in the organization. Ensuring that the right leaders and the right skills are able to articulate and execute strategies.
  • Accountable for developing own and others’ performance through building a personal brand of accessibility, listening and positively influencing others to achieve results.
  • Ongoing professional development, keeping up to date on industry, market and competitive trends.
  • Ensure completion of thorough evaluation/review of financial and operational risk for large ($>=$750k) or those requiring business decisions in accordance with AEF policies & guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, standards & guidelines through the design and execution of appropriate controls.


Who are we looking for?


  • 7+ years of asset finance/sales/credit experience and 4+ years’ experience in a senior leadership role with proven leadership and people development experience. Proven ability to grow a business through acquisition of new customers and deepening existing customer relationships. Sales leadership and business development experience. Proven experience in developing and implementing business strategy and developing new market business cases. Experience leading successful business transformation
  • Depth of awareness of future industry and demographic trends.
  • Strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills including developing, motivating and leading a successful sales team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with deadlines in a changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and within a collaborative team oriented environment using sound judgment in problem solving & decision making.
  • Strong sales and customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated effective organization, prioritization and decision making skills.
  • Experience and success in coaching individuals and teams for enhanced performance.
  • Ability to interpret and execute strategy.
  • Understanding of asset finance and credit analysis/adjudication.
  • Ability to effectively utilize multiple data sources to manage teams, develop business cases and form business decision recommendations to the AEF senior executive team.
