Whats the job:

 

Reporting into the VP, Product & Fulfillment, the Product Manager, Small Business & Commercial Lending is responsible for the management and development of lending and financing products for the Small Business, Commercial Banking, and Auto Finance lines of business. The incumbent contributes to the achievement of Coast Capital’s business objectives through effectively managing individual products, product lines and product lifecycles that achieves maximum revenues, member growth, member satisfaction, and alignment to business strategy. The core focuses of this role is to: 1) manage and monitor performance of existing small business credit and credit related products; 2) manage and/or participate in cross-functional teams responsible for implementing new products and enhancing existing products; 3) model and measure performance of proposed and existing product enhancements; and 4) leverage data to enhance product portfolio profitability and growth. The Product Manager, Small Business & Commercial Lending consults regularly with other stakeholder including Marketing, Business Banking, Finance, Enterprise Analytics, Wealth, and Risk & Control Partners.

 

What you'll get to do: 

 

  • Oversee rates, tactics, and the development of products to drive revenues for the SB & Commercial businesses.
  • Lead SB & Commercial lending & financing initiatives for expanding product/growth (introductory rates, pre-approved offers, etc).
  • Engage with cross functional teams such as LOBs, Legal, EA, Market Conduct, Marketing, Communications, and Training to ensure all SB & Commercial lending & financing initiatives are cascaded and operationalized effectively.
  • Evolve the existing business banking product suite, developing new lending products and bundles and identifying and building new partnerships.
  • Contribute to the determination of annual operating plan targets; ideating initiatives for line of business partners to achieve AOP; provide thought leadership and become recognized as the SME for SB & Commercial business lending & financing.
  • Actively review product results across business lines in comparison to annual AOP budget and provide recommendations or develop action plans.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Analytics and Marketing Data Analyst to improve existing product metrics. 
  • Actively participate in annual service charge review process as it relates to fees/charges related to credit products & contribute through market and competitor analysis.
  • Manage competitive scans of products and services from other financial institutions and continually track product developments.
  • Liaise with Information Technology Group on implementing new products and/or changes to products/fees.
  • Standardize and document processes where applicable with an eye to automation and continuous improvement.

 

What we're looking for: 

 

  • Minimum five years product management experience with a proven record of product management and new product development 
  • Preferably has Small business and/or commercial banking experience including the design of credit products. 
  • Familiarity with business case development and related cost benefit analysis. 
  • Solid Project Management experience (management or coordination) and/or marketing experience 
  • Minimum undergraduate university degree in business administration, commerce, marketing or social sciences with a high level of math or statistical analysis, including or supplemented by courses in marketing and marketing research. An MBA or other post-graduate degree, or equivalent industry related experience preferred.
  • Design thinking and agile development experience an asset.
  • Solid Project management comprehension and ability
  • Excellent computer skills particularly Excel/Access (MS Office suite) 
  • Strong knowledge and ability with financial and statistical mathematics
  • Demonstrated impact and influencing skills, and ability to do so with those where there is no direct line of authority.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Problem solver with good analytical skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Superior communication, listening, writing, and presentation skills.
